Important information about Examinations


Research Design & Analysis IIA (PSYC2005)

Important Information about Examinations:

Note that there are TWO examinations for this course. The details (dates, times and venues) of the examinations can be found on the university examinations timetable. Please note the following important information about the examinations:

1. Paper 1 will consist of Statistics.

2. Paper 2 will consist of Research Design and Psychometrics.

3. The examination timetable lists both examinations as "open book." This refers to the fact that you will be allowed to bring crib sheets into the examinations, but you will NOT be allowed textbooks or notes beyond the crib sheets.

4. For each exam you will be allowed a crib sheet of a maximum length of four sides of an A4 page (two double-sided A4 pages).

5. Should you miss either exam, and wish to apply for a deferred exam, please note that applications must be submitted to faculty, and NOT to the Psychology Department or to me!

6. Please do not forget to bring the following items with you to the exams:

a. Student ID

b. All necessary stationary

c. Calculator for stats (NOT a cell phone calculator!)

This test will include Research Design/Psychometrics and Statistics components:

1. Research Design/Psychometrics:

The test will include everything from Lecture 6 (Reliability) up to and including the end of Lecture 13 (Contextualising Research in South Africa). (Note that this includes material from Workbook 1 [Lectures 6-8], Workbook 2 [Lectures 9-12] and Workbook 3 [Lecture 13]).

You will be allowed a crib sheet of a maximum length of one side of an A4 page.

2. Statistics:

The test will cover Units 1-8 (i.e., up to and including the end of Introduction to Hypothesis Testing).

You will be allowed a crib sheet of a maximum length of two sides of an A4 page.

Note that if you are absent from the test and wish to write the deferred test, you must provide me with appropriate documentation as soon as possible!

Tut notice for 18 April to 8 May

Research Design & Analysis IIA (PSYC2005) Tutorials

Please note that the sixth week of tutorials will run from Wednesday 18th April to Tuesday 24th April 2012.

There will be no tutorials from Wednesday 25th April until Tuesday 1st May.

Tutorials will resume as normal on Wednesday 2nd May (Week 7: Wed 2nd May-Tues 8th May).

The results for Test I for RDA IIA have been published on the RDA noticeboard (opposite U4 on the Mezzanine level of the Umthombo Building).

Notices for DP (Due Performance) for tutorial attendance and the percentage earned from tutorial attendance so far (of a maximum possible 4%) are also posted.
